Dear fellow students,
this is Yara, your delegate for anti-discrimination. I am studying social work in the fourth semester and am passionately involved with these topics, which is why I am very grateful to be able to coordinate this department.
My political mission aims at picking out inequalities as a central theme. Because if we want all people to be equal, we need to know where there are still inequalities preventing people from having the same opportunities in our society and in our University.
Besides that, I want to fight against right wing organizations (e.g. AFD) becoming stronger in our society as well as in our University.
I’m very happy having the institution of the AStA, because it makes it possible for me to take care for both of these and many more aims in an institutionalized framework.
I think we all know, that political work is more fun if you’re not alone. That’s why I need you to come up to me with your ideas, projects and/or events that fit into my department. I’d be honored to support you!
I also don’t want you to be alone with your personal issues:
If you ever become a victim of racism or discrimination, please come up to me. I’m not an expert in mediation or consultancy, but with my position in the AStA my basis for negotiation is different from a private person. Together we can find out about strategies to help you in your situation, if you like. In general, you can always come up to me, if you want to talk about cases of discrimination.
