Defend the forest to save the climate!
To stop the climate change, the immediate coal exit is unavoidable. Nevertheless, energy companies will clear the Hambacher forest in the Rhineland this autumn to expand a brown coal mine. The Hambacher forest is now occupied for six years and is the center of the European climate justice movement for this year. This shows the importance of engaging for climate justice.
The “Ende-Gelände” regional group and the HAW AStA invite you to the info event on the 26th of September at 7 pm to give an overview about the state of affairs in the Hambacher forest.
What is happening in the Hambach Forest? What is going to happen with the new coal commission set up by the Federal Government? And most important: How can we work together for climate justice?
We want to explore all these topics discussing with you and invited speakers from various fields. Come around, participate and be part of the team standing up against environmental destruction. To get started, the regional group shows the first movie of Susanne Fasbenders trilogy at the Schaltzentrale (Bullerdeich 14, 20th of September, 8 pm). The artist travelled through the lignite mining fields in the Rhineland and pictures in an impressive way the connection between resource extraction, land grab, economic growth and climate crisis.
