This is the motto of the educational block on the parade of this year's Christopher Street Day on Saturday 4th of August, to which the AStA invites you. We are happy to contribute to the success of this parade together with the queer department of the University of Hamburg. In addition, there will be an extraordinary program the week before, with lectures and workshops on LGBTIQ* community topics.
With the motto mentioned above, the educational block wants to draw attention to the fact that there still are many prejudices, as well as hostility against the people of these communities and not only from AFD and Co. In addition, the CSD is often mocked as a contentless party. Heteros often forget that the CSD has a deeper meaning than the exuberant parade suggests. They can live their everyday life without having to hide their identity, without causing a stir by their look, or having the potential to disturb other people. The CSD means more to his community than just party. Although it would have every reason to do so, after several achievements of the recent years (e.g. same sex marriage or the court order for the official implementation of a third sex). For many it is the only day they can show themselves as they are. For some, it may be the first day they to see their true identity. For others, it is a day to slip into other roles and strike a new path.
We would like to call on all HAW students to participate in the educational block of the CSD supported by the AStA. Come as part of the community or show your solidarity to our queer classmates. The CSD is an event for all of us in the fight for a tolerant and colorful world in which we see diversity as enrichment.
