Where do I turn if the third internship position asked me if I would take off my headscarf during working hours? Who is my contact person when I am asked to tell how certain things work in "my country" even though I was born and raised in Germany? How am I supposed to fill out the many forms and questionnaires that I am confronted with again and again in everyday university life, if I didn't put myself in the binary gender system and how do I organise something as everyday as going to the toilet? What do I do as a lecturer if I want to avoid discrimination, how do I address it in the seminars and beyond?
Discrimination situations are also manifold at the university, sometimes rather subtle, sometimes obvious, as the small excerpt of examples shows. This expert discussion is intended in particular to serve as an exchange on how discrimination can be dealt with at universities on an institutional and interactive level, and what prerequisites this requires.
We cordially invite all interested parties to participate in the expert discussion and to contribute their ideas in order to make HAW Hamburg less discriminatory!

Speaker:

Isabel Collien is an expert in organisational development with a focus on diversity and equal opportunities. She heads the Diversity Audit at HAW Hamburg and is doing her doctorate on Diversity in Organizations at Freie Universität Berlin.

Né Fink has been project coordinator for the pilot project "Support for trans* students" at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen since 2018. Né works as a sensitization training on the topic of gender diversity and is a peer-to-peer consultant. Né is also active on a voluntary basis in Trans*Beratung at the Queeren Centre in Göttingen, where he advises trans* persons and their relatives.

Pasquale Viginie Rotter is a national trainer*in, speaker*in and coach for empowerment against racism with a focus on embodied empowerment, as well as project coordinator*in of EmpA - empowerment, sensitisation and anti-racist opening at the Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin.
