Watch „Feuerzangenbowle“ critically

Year after year Unifilm shows the movie „Die Feuerzangenbowle” in wintertime and students use this as an opportunity to party with sparkling wine and see of lights. But what’s behind the film production of 1943?

What today many people notice like soft Christmassy entertainment gets a different meaning in front of the historical background. The movie was produced in 1943 and did not just finance the second world war of the Nazis, it is also interspersed with fascist ideology which can only be identified at second glance. If you review the movie in detail, you can discover which ideology hides behind the mellow amusement.

You can right now visit an exhibition at the University of Hamburg, which is about the origin, the production and the contents of the movie. The exhibition can be visited in Audimax, Von-Melle-Park 4. Its also online available, click here
